Police Wallet Badges
My dad lost his wallet last thursday evening and never found it?
Friday early am , a guy called the house asking for him . My dad noticed it was a blocked number the guy was calling from. The guy stated he found the wallet with $87.00 in it and all the credit cards and my dads police badge. He said he was not going to use the cards , but he was keeping the money and police badge but putting the wallet in the mail box at post office, so it can be returned to my dad. Is this a common pratice of someone who finds personal property of others

hahaha, my dad being the cop he is says , he will have the wallet dusted for prints when he gets it back , hoping to catch the dude who found the wallet to get his badge back
I certainly hope not. By not returning all of the property he is breaking the law.
By keeping a police badge he is committing an even more serious offense.
I hope he gets caught.

So I found a wallet...?
I found a wallet outside my house the other night and it had a badge in it so i washed it and cleaned it out but dont know if i should give it back or not i know it has a badge in it and the police officer must need it but someone else got to it first and i dont wanna be the one in trouble for taking everything else when i didnt

You take it down to the police station, hand it to them, and tell them where you found it. They will probably ask about it and you just tell them it had mud on it that you cleaned off but you removed nothing from it and that's how you found it. I'm sure he'll be happy to have it back.
A couple of ladies I knew had their purses stolen at work once and the purses were recovered. Someone found them in a field a couple of towns away and turned them in. The police weren't surprised to hear they were empty. That's what thieves do, they take the contents and then dump them some where.
If you are too scared to turn it into the police, put it in a city mail box somewhere. Surely the post office will turn it in.
