What do do with valuables whilst on holiday?
Right i'm finally going away on my first no adult holiday (irony is I'm now 21) to Tenerife with 3 others. One headache that im having is what to do with valuables when u go to the beach or water parks, previously there would always be some sorry sod who would stay with all the valuables on the beach and take it in turns but what if you all want to have fun etc.. Obv i wont take my iphone at all theres no need and also shit loadsa of cash, but some cash and a camera are a must, can u just leave them hidden under a towel or is that stupid? Waterproof wallet?
Any suggestions?
The best place would be in a safe in your hotel or apartment.
The second option would indeed be someone staying with your valuables at all times, and being aware of what is going on, so not dozing while soaking up the sun rays.
Best leave all at home you can leave at home.
For water parks you can put your things in a good sturdy ziplock bag, and that in a backpack that is pretty much waterproof itself. Which would work on rides, but not when swimming.
They might have safes for rent in the park or even on the beach, so if you do not get a good answer here, ask around.
If there are no safe options, take a cheap camera to the beach, likely a waterproof one, and hide that. And put your money in a waterproof wallet or money box you can wear around your neck, but that is mostly for the money you need in the day, so would work with a safe in your hotel.

PakPak Waterproof Wallet - Product Review
So, I'm going to be making my own messenger bag.?
I'm an artist and I really need something that can efficiently hold my sketchbook along with my phone, wallet, etc on the go. So my boyfriend and I have decided to make my own, and I wanted to know if there were any tips out there. The general shape will be like this picture:

It'll have a rectangular shape and is of course going to be made of thick, waterproof material. If anyone knows of any websites that have "how to's" and tips, that would be much appreciated. I really want this one to be perfect and durable, and we're obviously pretty new to this whole sewing cloth thing. Any advice? Guides? Tips? =)
The first one is never going to be perfect, so get that out of your head now. Make a trial piece out of heavy canvas or something like that. Go to Google and search for "sewing pattern messenger bag free" and you'll find some good ones.
If not, email me (click on my avatar for an email link) and I'll send you my totebag pattern. By adding a flap and altering the handles, it should work if you can't find a real one.
