Where Can I Find A Checkbook Cover?
I spilled White Out on mom's and ruined it, it won't come off. Mine always came from the bank so I don't know where to buy one. Those mail order places only sell covers with checks and mom has enough checks to last the rest of her life. Something nice, in leather.
I'm putting this question here because there's no category for this sort of thing.
Mom and I have a joint account. I was correcting a mistake I made in the register.
I bought my checks and checkbook cover from Checks Unlimited.
You can buy the items separately. I've posted two links below.
The first link is to their homepage. Just click on the checkbook cover shown on the hompage, and it will take you to tons of checkbook covers. Many of them are in leather. Check 'em out. Doesn't hurt to look.
The second link is of the leather checkbook cover I decided on for myself a number of years ago. I haven't regretted buying it. It currently sells for $17.95.
PS: I make all my entries to my check book register in pencil. That way, when I make a mistake, I can correct it easily. If you don't feel comfortable making entries in pencil, another option to correcting mistakes is making another entry on the next available line. For example, if you made a mistake at the check #123 entry. That is the entry was for the amount of $10.00 on 11/03/08 and should have been for $10.60 because of a 6% tax you forgot to include in the price, just make an additional register entry on 12/03/08 (today) that reads "ADJUSTMENT TO CHECK#123 DATED 11/03/08." In the money column enter the 60 cents and subtract it from the balance. If you like, you can also go back to the original 11/03/08 entry and add the words "SEE ADJUSTEMENT AT 12/03/08". That way both entries refer to each other, and nothing involves whiteout or scribbling over. It's all very neat and clear, and anyone auditing the register can make sense of it. That is, they can see that you deducted $10 incorrectly on 11/03/08, and then corrected it by deducting an additional 60 cents on 12/03/08.
