If rap and hip hop is urban, why are so many popular rappers hicks and hillbillies now?
If rap and hip hop is supposed to be urban, why are most famous rappers hicks and hillbillies now??

i don't think hip hop is exclusively urban, just region specific. that is, hip hop sounds different in different regions in the united states. this can include cities, towns, rural areas, whatever. plus there has always been a large black population in those areas

Why is hip-hop/urban music dead?
I am a BIG fan of hip-hop music (old school) and I really enjoy listening to it but I don't see it on the TV as much as I want to. And I think it's sad.
Some people say that hip-hop is dead because of the commercial rap and because of the industry. I personally think it's in coma (since people still liten to it).
Now what do you think about it? Why hip-hop is not that popular today?
Who is breaking ground in the industry? What is everyone else doing? It's all follow the leader. The songs are basically saying the same thing. Which is basically NOTHING.
Once upon a time we had quality rappers like Eric B. & Rakim, Slick Rick, EMPD.. I really could go on. The ones that actually took time out to write and rhyme. Now it's all bubble gum...
