Do you give your kids pocket money?? And how much?
I was wondering if it's time to start giving my children pocket money, I have 3 children girls 10 & coming up 4 and a son who's 7. My partner also has a daughter who's 8 and she is with us half the week.
We haven't given the pocket money before and were wondering how we should go about it the best way.
I always had to work for my pocket money and I got extra if I did extra.
Should I do this with my children or should they be rewarded per job - some are lazier than others you see.
And also how much should I give them??
I was thinking of giving it to them monthly rather than weekly, is this a good idea?? I was thinking it would help with budgeting in the future.
And help on this matter would be great.
My kids are (going on) 11 and 7. I make a list of chores and put on their bedroom door. Each time a daily chore gets done, they get a check mark. At the end of the week they each get $1 for each chore completed. One chore though for each of them is good behavior.
I tried monthly allowances, but they got impatient and felt as if they werent being rewarded for the things they did due to the long wait. Thats just what I do. Not saying it's the best idea lol but maybe it'll give you some ideas.

power hungry mum taking pocket money away for petty reasons?
My mum puts money into my account weekly, these days she just takes my money away as she pleases. Like I'll be ten minutes late for bed, and she'll say "That's your weeks pocket money GONE". Or she'll wind me up until we get into arguments, then if I snap back..."That's the next weeks pocket money GONE". If I miss a few of her calls while I'm out she'll text me with the same old "Pocket money, GONE. I can't control it anymore, it's really winding me up, it's like she enjoys it. I'm only 15 and I'm practically broke, I need money just to buy new summer clothes and she's just power hungry. It's really upsetting me because theres nothing I can do. I've literally had no money since May, and I couldn't go to the theme park or buy any new clothes...I can't earn in because she puts it in depending on my behaviour only... What can I do?
Do you have a regular weekly allowance? If not you should. You need a certain amount of money every week to learn about how to spend wisely. This is a very sad situation. I hope you can work it out with your mom.
Also try the Family section or the Parenting section. Maybe other moms can help you talk to your own mom.
