Technique for using Great Stuff foam on boat interior?
We have a steel sailboat with removable styrofoam insulation against the hull. However, uninsulated space exists in the long narrow areas between the wood furring strips on the ribs of the hull and the hull itself. We'd like to use Great Stuff spray foam to fill this space, but seek suggestions as to how to accomplish this. Would rather spray BEFORE replacing the large styrofoam pieces, because otherwise the spray foam would more or less cement those pieces into place, making hull inspection difficult later. Spraying and then sculpting when wet will likely compromise the insulating properties. On the other hand, cutting out overflow after it dries could damage our newly painted interior. Any suggestions as to how to do make an effective application of the spray foam?
If I were going to do this, I would put paper between the sytrofoam and where the Great Stuff is going to go. The paper will protect the styrofoam and allow it to be removed for inspection. Tape the paper down before you use the spray.

Even though Aluminum foil sound like a funny answer, that and duct tape could work. How about aluminum panels. You can get them in sheets as large as 4 x 8, but it will take some work to get the panels the size you need.
