Question about Atonement!!?
How is it possible for the entire world to be forgiven through Christ's Crucifixion if the only reason it happened was because Gods Children were wicked enough to put him on the cross. As far as I know, Jesus didn't willingly hop up on the cross by himself. He was forced into it!! If the Crucifixion was necessary, then why didn't Jesus say to His Father in Heaven. "Thank you for allowing me to do this." Instead he said "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do!" As if what they were doing was not part of the plan...They were doing the Father's will in my opinion. Because if the crucifixion didn't occur then the atonement would not have been in effect. Comments please!!
One can often "predict " how a certain thing is going to work out because of Certain people's behavioral pattern and you can use their "wrongness" to bring about something good out of it. That is what God did, He used the Human nature of the people of that time to bring atonement.
Crucifixion was the method the Romans used on all non-Romans ans so God used Roman Crucifixion to bring about atonement and Salvation not just to the Jews but to all who would believe in Christ.
But just because God used their "wrongness" doesn't make them or what they did right or excuse them of the need for forgiveness. Jesus recognized that himself on the cross as you quoted and even then petitioned for their forgiveness.
