Incarcerated by the tales we spin
Implicating those that seek lost treasures
They search in vain for hidden peace within
Empathy’s swift swirl in missive pleasures.
The verse above was once a sturdy claim
A creed of mine, an insincere rebuff.
And now I venture forth without such blame
A leathered skin that rends me newly tough.
The poets here have given of their souls
Relinquished all they keep inside their hearts
Enchanted chasers of the fire’s new coals
A sum of all the poem’s written parts.
To breathe the air they walk on is a dream
Forever linked by strength of worded seam.
