Wallet Neck Strap
Would a Travel wallet be a fool proof method to avoid getting pickpocketed in Rome?
I will be travelling to Europe for the first time this May and we will be stopping by in Rome for a couple of days. I have heard numerous horror stories of tourists being pickpocketed there and now I am worried about being a victim as well since I will be bringing large amounts of money there. I saw a travel wallet (a wallet with a strap that you hang around your neck and hide underneath your clothes) and I was wondering if it is a fool proof method to protect myself from being pickpocketed in Rome. Any suggestions? Please and thank you.

It would probably be a good way -- but nothing is foolproof.
When my parents went, the guide recommended a small fanny pack, with the pack in front. It had a slot agianst the waist for money, and gave them a place to keep a camera, etc.

bought a wallet for air travel; am I going to have take out my driver's license for TSA?
it's a window wallet, 6" x 4" app. size, with a strap for the neck; it has a window at the bottom; on the other side is a zipper compartment.
It really depends on the TSA agents you come into contact with; some are more lenient than others. I would say though that generally yes, you do need to have it out of the wallet. I too have a window on my purse for my ID, but I always take it out to avoid holding up the line in case I'm asked to remove it. They usually scrutinize your ID pretty thoroughly, so I would recommend having it out.
