What type of class would I need to make this? (picture below)?

Welding? Whittling wood classes?
Notice how the wine barrel is cut in half, still having the metal frame intact?
What did they use to cut the metal in half? Or to bolt the metal frame in place?
I plan on getting into these sort of crafts- any help on direction?
Probably fabrication, it deals in more than one medium. It would likely be a bit of several different beginner techniques = welding/soldering, cutting, and building.
