Was Bob Marley part of the Twelve Tribes of Israel?
Please don't bother answering if you don't have anything to offer. I like Bob's music no matter his religion but I'm just curious. I know that for most of his life he was a Rastafarian and worshipped His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I, but I have seen many places claim that he was part of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, which is a sect of the Rastafarians but with one major theological difference, the denial of the worship of Haile Selassie I. One of the many places I read this is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Tribes_of_Israel_%28Rastafari%29#Twelve_Tribes_of_Israel so I was just curious, to be a part of the TTI one must deny Haile Selassie I as God, but Bob would constantly speak of Haile Selassie as being perfect and God, so therefore how could he have been part of the TTI? I am just curious so please no hate saying things like, "Who cares about his religion." and things of that nature please. Thanks.

The Rastafarian faith was based on the original twelve tribes wasn't it...Haile Selassie was a direct descentant of the ancient houses of Israel so there has always been a cross-over between the two...I think they were too stoned to be purists over the differences...
My (rasta) mates have always considered the two to co-exist side by side

He tried very hard to trace his ancestry back to Africa. I don't know if he finally came to a concrete answer as to his blood relationship with the Twelve Tribes. He certainly was related spiritually...
