OsTrich Leather
Does anyone have any idea how to deodorize the outside of ostrich leather work boots?
The outside part of my husband's work boots have a musty smell. It almost smells like mildew. Does anyone have any suggestions? They are Tony Lama ostrich leather.
Many people have the problem of smelly shoes at some time in their life. Athletes and active people will often have this problem more than others. Instead of going out and buying new shoes, or walking around smelly, one should take advantage of the several methods that can make shoes smell better. Knowing a few basic steps and preventive measures can ensure that you never have smelly shoes again.
Step 1
Start by placing the shoes outside. Not only will this keep the smell from your house, but it will dry the shoes out. Allow the shoes to sit out in the sun for a while so they have time to dry out.
Step 2
Do not wear the shoes yet. At this point fill the two stockings with the kitty litter. While not wearing the shoes, allow the stockings to sit inside of the shoes so they will absorb any moisture and help with the smell.
Step 3
Sprinkle baking soda into both shoes before wearing them. If in a rush and you need the shoes immediately, this can be done before inserting the stockings. The shoes can safely be worn with the baking soda inside of them. After wearing the shoes, sprinkle some more baking soda inside of them, then place the stockings with cat litter inside of the shoes and allow them to sit.
Step 4
Use a spray bottle to spray the inside of your shoes before and after wearing them. This can be done in place of baking soda. Once again, after wearing the shoes, make sure to put the stockings with kitty litter back inside of the shoes.
Step 5
Spray in anti-fungal foot spray. This should be done after shoes are dried and no longer smell. Making sure that you spray the anti-fungal spray into the shoes on a regular basis will ensure your shoes stay nice and odor-free.
