Secretary American Black
Regardless of whether you like Obama, is it good to see more black people in electoral politics & government?
I think many conservatives as well as many liberals would agree that it is.
Of course, conservatives are correct to point out that it isn't only political liberals and it isn't only the Democratic Party that have begun to open up somewhat to African Americans, after more than 300 years of North American history in which they were basically excluded.
While the majority of African American voters seem to support Democrats these days, we've also seen prominent black Republicans including Gen. Colin Powell, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas, RNC chairman Michael Steele, conservative economist Thomas Sowell, etc.
Is this a good thing, do you think? Does it move us closer to the day when, as Martin Luther King Jr. suggested, Americans of all races will learn to "live together as brothers," so that we don't "die together as fools"?
Well written and thought out , however; it will move us closer when the bean counting stops . Content of ones Character trumps skin color as I'm sure you would agree ..........
